Founder and Principal
I was born in Albania and moved to the United States at the age of 17. I was raised by two great parents that worked really hard to provide for me and my sister. Since I was little, I knew that if I wanted anything in life, I had to work hard for it. At the time of my arrival in the United States, I knew little English but I was always determined to succeed and never let any of the early barriers push me back.
I am currently responsible for all of the daily operations of the search fund and I plan to use my strengths around adaptability, discipline, and managing teams to buy, operate and grow a business located in the Midwest. I am currently connected to investors who are ready to deploy capital as soon as I uncover the right opportunity to invest in.
Prior to APLJ Capital Management, I worked for over 6 years at Sargent & Lundy, which is a leader in power and energy. I started as an engineer and eventually I was promoted to lead engineer. During my time at Sargent & Lundy I was focused in the power industry and I was involved in several medium and high voltage substation projects. Eventually I was responsible for leading a team of engineers, designers and drafters to successfully complete projects in time and within budget.
What I have learned so far throughout my academic and professional career, and what I believe to be true without a doubt is that great people make all the difference in a business. You simply can’t achieve great things without having great people around you. I have been lucky enough to have had an incredibly rewarding career which taught me the importance of support and teamwork, and am excited to manage a business that will embed those same principles.
I hold a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
